've Replaced Almost all default Windows sounds on customized by a set of airline-like "dings" that last less Than half a second each, and got rid of useless sounds, like the "startup" sound. I do not need a friggin 'symphony chime to greet me Every time I turn on this computer.
My standard browser is Mozilla with A Few 'extensions' to Easily get rid of ads and SWF files. Select which cookies I get installed on my computer. I've disabled animated GIFs, Java and Javascript Purposes except for testing, and Flash files only execute permission When I Give Them, In Other Words, I Almost never see Flash animations. The last time I saw a pop-up ad WAS 4 months ago, when i was typing from a cybercafe, and the only ads I see on my computer Are Google's AdSense. IExclusively navigate to gather information, search for diecast cars on eBay, or post on the handful of forums and blogs I visit. My internet usage Consists web browsing on 75% and 25% e-mail checking and Some FTP, telnet and internet messaging. I hang around MUCKs ocassionally.
The only games installed on this computer Are MAME, A Few old computer emulation packs and Civilization II, apart of the default games on Windows.
In Other Words, my computer is dull and functional, a simple, impersonal tool. I chosed it That Way Because computers Are dull and functional, simple tools impersonal That Worth Nothing Without an user, the MOST important piece of the mechanism. And I prefer to put all my care, Attention and Interest To That particular piece.
